Table types

Generated from the table-target documents (ophiolite.table-target/1) pinned by this release; do not edit by hand. Ophiolite reads a table as one of the types below. The mapping screen, the server’s checks and Python read the same documents, so they ask for the same things in the same words. A choice that describes the whole table (a unit, a reference) is asked once.

A pre-selected column carries a short caption saying why it was chosen: Stated in the connection settings, Used in your earlier import, Suggested from the column name, Project default or Not stated. A guess is never used until you confirm it.

Where each well is: one row per well with its identifier, name and surface position.

  • Coordinate system of X and Y: one of the coordinate systems on the mapping screen

The path of a well: measured depth with inclination and azimuth at each station, in increasing depth.

Attributesoptionalany number of columns, kept as attributes
  • Coordinate system of X and Y: one of the coordinate systems on the mapping screen, or any other EPSG code (EPSG: and 4 to 6 digits)
  • Map unit: Metres, International feet, or another short unit
  • Value unit: Metres, International feet, Milliseconds, Seconds, or another short unit
  • What Z holds: Depth, Elevation, Time
  • Positive direction: Up, Down
  • Vertical datum: free text, up to 128 characters

Depth and seismic time pairs of one well, both increasing, with an optional velocity.

  • Time unit: Milliseconds, Seconds, Microseconds
  • Depth datum: free text, up to 128 characters
  • Seismic reference elevation: a number

Any table kept as its columns, each with an optional unit, quantity and missing-value marker. This type can be described now; reading it waits for E58b.

  • For each column: Unit, Quantity, Missing-value marker

The same documents are in the Python library, with the sentences a check gives:

from ophiolite import targets
tops = targets.target('well-tops')
print(tops.field_names)
sentence = targets.render('well-tops', {'rows_checked': 5}, {'field': 'well', 'code': 'reference-missing', 'severity': 'invalid', 'rows': 1, 'examples': []}, {})
print(sentence) # 1 of 5 rows have no well.

From the command line, ophiolite targets lists the types and ophiolite targets well-tops describes one (--json prints its document).
