Scientific assets and revisions

An asset identifies a scientific object over time. A revision identifies an exact published state of that asset.

A curve needs its samples, missing-value mask, units and axis meaning. A map also needs sample positions and honest coordinate claims. Unknown coordinates must remain unknown.

Follow chooses the newest ready revision. Pin chooses a specific revision. Neither mode automatically reconstructs native application editing behavior.

The intended OSDU contract makes a revision ready only when the exact metadata and payload are readable. Notifications are hints; reconciliation checks authoritative state after missed events.

One published asset has one authoritative backend. Changing backend is an explicit migration.

A reproducible result records exact inputs, parameters, algorithm identity and output references. Full customer-facing History and Derived from experiences remain roadmap work.
