Collections and snapshots

Data → Collections contains your personal working sets in the current project. Choose New collection, give it a name, select native/source datasets, and save. Click its name to open the catalogue filtered to that group. The Collection filter returns to All project data. A collection can mix wells, logs and surfaces. It copies no payloads and changes no access or scientific meaning. Another user has their own collections. Delete collection removes only grouping. Inaccessible members are counted without displaying their data; saving removes those inaccessible IDs. A stale edit asks you to reload rather than overwriting another tab’s changes.

Administrators can choose Capture snapshot from a collection, then open the capture form in Snapshots & releases. Eligible file/SQL members are selected automatically. Unsupported native/OSDU or unauthorized members are listed as omissions and require explicit acknowledgement; no silent partial capture. Select recipients and intended use. Keep Require review before download checked for a review package. Uncheck it for an unreviewed snapshot: all permitted recipients can download immediately. Request review later pauses downloads until approval; existing copies remain readable. Approval is for the recorded intended use, not proof of scientific validity.

Exact retention requires configured retention/sharing permission and project access. Connecting a source is not a grant to retain it. Capture is bounded to current Stage 1 file/mapped-SQL profiles, not all collection members. Unknown units/references remain unknown; missing values are not zeros. The preview does no interpolation. Collections are mutable references, whereas snapshots retain exact bytes/revisions and mappings. No collection subscriptions, team sharing or destination delivery is implied.

Use synthetic LAS data with zero and missing samples and SQL rows with NULL and empty text when trying this pilot. The implemented two-user browser qualification covers grouping, persistence, export and optional review.
